CRAIG POWELL

Craig is a Relationship Counsellor, Individual and trauma-informed therapist. He has completed all levels of training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and is working towards International Certification. He is a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

Craig is now accepting new clients on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Craig supports clients in building the resources necessary to establish safety and security within their relationships. He utilises the Emotionally Focused Therapy approach and mindfulness practices to help couples develop awareness and presence, expanding their capacity to provide support and regulation while strengthening the secure bond in the relationship.

Craig’s has a genuine, caring, and most importantly, non-judgmental approach. He meets couples where they are, fostering an environment of acceptance and understanding. He guides couples in deep listening, mutual understanding of relationship dynamics, and exploring new ways of relating. His ultimate goal is to assist couples in addressing and overcoming any relationship challenges that may arise, while also building the resilience to tackle future issues.

Craig believes that everyone strives to be the best person and partner they can be, but acknowledges that sometimes mistakes are made, leading to unintended consequences. He recognises and celebrates the unique diversity of each individual, understanding that their experiences add colour to their lives and influence how they engage in relationships. Craig is fully aware that adverse life circumstances such as trauma, addiction, or mental illness can pose challenges to living and relating. With this in mind, he is committed to creating a welcoming space that embraces diversity and lived experience in all forms. His approach is trauma-informed and informed by evidence-based neurobiology.

Drawing on his coaching experience, Craig helps clients set goals, develop positive habits, enhance motivation, and leverage existing strengths to more fully engage in their relationships and the world. Craig looks forward to welcoming clients to his practice.

"Craig was very skilful in steering us back to our wounds and healing them. He was empathic, warm and present which made us equally feel safe and seen (which is a feat in couple counselling). We are grateful to Craig for enabling our reconnection to each other." Julian and Eileen
